5 Desk Habits That Are Quietly Causing Your Neck Pain

If you spend most of your day at a desk, neck pain rarely comes from one dramatic moment. It builds up from small, repeated habits, and the good news is that most of them are easy to fix once you know what to look for.
Start with your screen height. If your monitor sits below eye level, you're likely craning your neck forward for hours without noticing. Raise it so the top of the screen is roughly at eye level.
Next, check how often you look down at your phone. "Text neck," the forward head posture from constantly looking down, puts significant extra load on your neck and upper back muscles.
Finally, build in movement breaks. Even a well-set-up desk can't compensate for sitting in one position for hours. A short stretch or short walk every 45 to 60 minutes goes a long way.
If neck pain has become a regular part of your day despite adjusting your setup, it may be worth getting it assessed, since persistent postural pain often has a mechanical cause that's straightforward to treat once identified.
